You can conduct a search for financial interests on machinery via PPSR.com.au.
Before 30 January 2012, this service was provided by the state based REVS (Register of Encumbered Vehicles) or VSR (Vehicle Securities Register), depending on where the machinery was registered or financed.
It is vital to check used machinery for existing financial interests prior to purchasing it. If you do not, and the previous owner still had money owing against it, the financier could potentially repossess the machinery if the previous owner does not settle their debt.
A PPSR search can provide you with a national check for financial interests against a piece of machinery.
